Dear brothers and sisters,

I want to again extend an invitation to the 2011 Berean National Convention, to be held in beautiful Siskiyou County, California. Summer is nearly over, football is right around the corner, and some of you still haven’t made your reservations. So, to jog your memory and encourage you to commit, here’s the information again. Convention is scheduled for October 5-8, 2011, in Grenada, CA. We’re excited to have Todd Nighswonger as our key-note speaker. He is currently Executive Pastor of Cornerstone Community Church of Simi Valley, CA. Todd previously served as youth pastor at Cheyenne Berean, and is well-acquainted with the Berean Fellowship. His theme will be “Gospel Life”, with the main messages taken from 1 Corinthians. Important Information to help you begin:

1) Finances: We realize that coming to Convention in California is expensive. We west-coasters have found that Convention is well worth the expense and time away. Your presence here will be a great encouragement to the west-coast segment of the Berean Fellowship. We would suggest you consider adding a few days to your trip for some sight-seeing. We are just 4 hours from the beautiful Oregon coast, the redwoods, or Crater Lake. If you like city vacations, San Francisco and Portland are about 5 hours drive.

2) Housing: We have reserved a block of rooms at the new Holiday Inn Express in Yreka. The cost includes breakfast. They would appreciate your reservation as soon as possible. Here is the information:
Holiday Inn Express, Yreka 1-530-842-1600. Tell them you are calling for the Berean Convention and give the dates. New motel, Indoor Pool, Breakfast, Wireless King bed or two queens $99 + tax Suite $110 + tax

There are other less expensive hotels in the Yreka and Weed areas. Also, we have homes that would be available for those that would appreciate saving some money. (Please call us if you desire to stay in a home). Yreka and Weed both have numerous family and fast-food restaurants to meet your dining needs.

3) Travel: There is a road from your house to ours! It just happens to be a long one, so you might want to fly, or even take the train. Our nearest airport is Medford, OR (60 miles north). Redding, CA is 90 miles south, Klamath Falls, OR is 75 miles northeast. Sacramento and Reno are 250 miles, San Francisco and Portland are about 300 miles. As of this writing, it is approximately $100 cheaper to fly to one of the larger cities. Numerous web-sites can help you book your flights. Amtrak comes to Dunsmuir and Klamath Falls, so that is another possibility.

4) Consider an additional day for white water river rafting on the Klamath River or salmon fishing on the Klamath: We have made arrangements with Kidder Creek Camp and local fishermen to do either of these activities on Tuesday, October 4 for both activities and also Wednesday morning, October 5, as an option for fishing. Information is included. (The actual price for the fishing is $21, not $27 as on the registration card)

We are excited about our time together. We’ll pray as you plan and travel. Your friend,
John Wetzig
